HURON CITY MUSEUMS ON HIGH Water Tower for the "invisible town" July 5, 2002 Huron City, Michigan: When Yale English Professor William Lyon Phelps preached to large crowds at the Huron City Church during the 1920's and 30's, he called it the "visible church in an invisible town." Since July 2, 2002, the brand new Huron Township water tower on M 25, between Port Hope and Port Austin, gives visibility to the once invisible town, thanks to the generosity of many people. The Trustees of the William Lyon Phelps Foundation are grateful to the landowners who donated the tower site to the Township in return for putting the Museums' name on the tower, to Richard Crisman, Chairman of the Huron Township Water Commission, to Joe White of Wolverine Engineering, to Caldwell Tank Co. , Dave Cole Decorators, and Tnemec paint company for their support and, especially, to the paint crew and sign painter Kim Hovey for a beautiful paint lettering job. The Huron City Museums hope to greet many visiters this summer. mer.
