Hello!

My name is Patty Finan and I am the director of programs at the Huron =
City Museums outside Port Austin MI. We are having our 15th annual =
Sawmill Day event on August 21st and at that event, we plan to honor the =
local Centennial farmers. We would like to invite Governor Granholm to =
present the recognition awards to these farmers. It will take place at =
1:00 pm on the steps of the House of Seven Gables in our museum complex. =
Since the governor did not make it to the Thumb area on her tourism =
swing last year, we thought this might be a great opportunity for her =
visit here.=20

Our Sawmill Day brings many people to see the active shingle and =
sawmills. We also have live music, spinning wheels, caning =
demonstrations, local produce for sale, old steam engines on display and =
much more. We hope by adding this recognition that more people will =
attend. We also were awarded MCACA funds that will pay for shuttle buses =
to take people to the Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse and Port Hope for =
their celebration of A-B-C Day (Antiques, Bean Soup and Crafts). Also =
this weekend is the Cheeseburger in Caseville event that draws thousands =
to the area. It will be a fun time for everyone.=20

Other events that we hold at Huron City Museums include our Pioneer Day =
on June 19th, with speakers in the church and local historical societies =
with tents on the grounds. Our Red Letter Day is on July 31st and helps =
us to raise funds. If Governor Granholm would like to speak at this =
event, that would be wonderful. We have luncheon on the lawn of Seven =
Gables and a program in the church at 3:00 pm. Our focus for donations =
this year is the roof of Seven Gables, which need replacing. Our last =
event of the season is a poetry reading at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September =
26th. The governor is welcome at any or all of these events.=20

If you could please let me know if the governor is interested in =
attending any of our events, that would be wonderful. We would like to =
publicize her attendance. If you have any questions, I would be glad to =
help.=20
Thanks!
